In August of 2010 Bob and Deborah Shinn moved into Wolhurst an Adult /Senior Community in South Littleton, Colorado. Soon after "We began to see the need right here in our community of 400". Most of the 400 residents are 65+ and living on fixed incomes. In Feb. 2011 Bob and Dee began serving 4 families once a month with a supplement of food and it's delivery.
Fast forward to late 2011 and Faith Mission On Wheels was now serving 20 families in the South Littleton, Colorado Senior Community. With the need of services for 25 more families that were on a waiting list.
The donations came from the following organizations Mission Hills Church, His Hands Christian Ministry Inc.,Einsteins Bagels and members of Foothills Fellowship Baptist Church. None of these organizations were able to provide for the growing need among the Seniors. In lieu of this Faith Mission on Wheels started making contacts with other organizations to see if the growing need could be met. In early October 2012 Faith Mission on Wheels in cooperation with Food Bank of the Rockies and Light of the World Roman Catholic Church started working together to provide a supplement of food and non food items to 100 of the Wolhurst Residents. Faith Mission on Wheels picks up and delivers the food to the Wolhurst Community Building then distributes the food on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 1:00 PM.
